Sensex up 139pts; tech stocks firm

The Sensex is now up 139 points at 16,479.

The NSE Nifty is up 38 points at 4,902.

Satyam have zoomed over 5% to Rs 427. Infosys has surged 4.7% to Rs 1,487. TCS has rallied 3.3% to Rs 882, and Wipro has gained 2.8% at Rs 429.

ITC has soared 5% to Rs 194. Maruti has advanced 3.5% to Rs 938.

ONGC and HDFC have moved up 2.5% each to Rs 983 and Rs 2,700, respectively.

NTPC has advanced nearly 2% to Rs 194, and Tata Steel has added 1.8% to Rs 792.

Hindalco and Cipla are up around 1.5% each at Rs 203 and Rs 205, respectively.

Reliance Energy has plunged over 4% to Rs 1,441.

Bajaj Auto has tumbled 3.6% to Rs 2,120. Bharti Airtel and Hindustan Unilever have dropped over 2% each to Rs 751 and Rs 224, respectively.

SBI, HDFC Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra have declined 1.6% each to Rs 1,842, Rs 1,335 and Rs 694, respectively.

ICICI Bank is down 1% at Rs 961.

Out of 2,691 stocks traded so far, 2,027 have declined, 619 have advanced and 45 are unchanged.
