Sensex up 13pts; HDFC surges 5%

The Sensex is now up 13 points 12,380.

HDFC has surged 5% to Rs 1,518. ICICI Bank has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 708.

Ranbaxy has spurted over 2% to Rs 430. SBI has advanced 1.5% to Rs 1,015, and HDFC Bank is up 1.2% at Rs 910.

ONGC, Cipla and ACC are the other smart gainers.

Maruti has slipped 2% to Rs 944. Dr.Reddy's and TCS have shed 1.7% each to Rs 725 and Rs 1,025, respectively.

Reliance Communications has dropped 1.5% to Rs 341. Satyam, ITC and Bharti Airtel are down over 1% each to Rs 822, Rs 184 and Rs 472, respectively.

Out of 2,452 stocks traded so far, 1,254 have advanced, 1,112 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
