Sensex up 141pts; HDFC leads

The Sensex is now up 141 points at 13,923.

HDFC has soared 5.4% to Rs 1,682. Tata Steel, Bajaj Auto and ITC have surged over 3% each to Rs 581, Rs 2,648 and Rs 166, respectively.

Hindalco and Wipro have gained 2.7% each at Rs 148 and Rs 564, respectively. SBI has advanced 2.5% to Rs 1,150.

HDFC Bank and Satyam have moved up around 2% each to Rs 1,017 and Rs 461, respectively. Reliance Communications is up 1.6% at Rs 471.

Out of 2,444 stocks traded so far, 1,583 have advanced, 766 have declined and 95 are unchanged.
