NTPC, Tata Motors and Wipro have rallied around 2% each to Rs 167, Rs 663 and Rs 467, respectively.
Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel and Reliance have gained 1.7% each at Rs 541, Rs 876 and Rs 1,812, respectively.
SBI, Larsen & Toubro and BHEL have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 1,708, Rs 2,486 and Rs 1,708, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindalco, Grasim, Dr.Reddy's and Ranbaxy are up around 1% each.
Out of 2,489 stocks traded so far, 1,944 have advanced, 499 have declined and 46 are unchanged.
