Sensex up 143pts; Maruti, Tata Motors lead

The Sensex is now up 143 points at 11,921.

Tata Motors and Maruti have rallied over 2.5% each to Rs 887 and Rs 898, respectively.

HLL, Larsen & Toubro and Infosys have advanced 2% each to Rs 244, Rs 2,476 and Rs 1,846, respectively.

ICICI Bank, Reliance Energy and Satyam have surged over 1.5% each to Rs 619, Rs 452 and Rs 812, respectively.

NTPC, Grasim, TCS, Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel, Wipro, Reliance, ONGC and HDFC Bank are up over 1% each.

Hero Honda has slipped 1.3% to Rs 718.

Out of 2,578 stocks traded so far, 1,601 have advanced, 897 have declined and 80 are unchanged.
