Sensex up 144pts; NTPC surges 4%

The Sensex is now up 144 points at 19,927.

Reliance Energy has soared nearly 6% to Rs 1,895.

NTPC has surged 3.8% to Rs 243. Reliance Communications and Ranbaxy have rallied 2.7% ecah to Rs 788 and Rs 426, respectively.

Tata Steel, Tata Motors and SBI have gained 2% each at Rs 917, Rs 782 and Rs 2,102, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has moved up 1.6% to Rs 1,016. ACC is up 1% at Rs 1,078.

Satyam and TCS have slipped 1.5% each to Rs 472 and Rs 1,033, respectively. Wipro and Infosys are down over 1% each to Rs 503 and Rs 1,830, respectively.
