Sensex up 145pts; Tata Steel, Reliance firm

The Sensex is now up 145 points at 16,753.

The NSE Nifty has moved up 31 points to 4,870.

Tata Steel has zoomed nearly 5% to Rs 745. Reliance and HDFC Bank have soared around 4% each to Rs 2,422 and Rs 1,454, respectively.

HDFC has surged 3.3% to Rs 2,710. BHEL and ITC have gained 2.8% each at Rs 1,931 and Rs 190, respectively.

Tata Motors has moved up 2.3% to Rs 709, and ACC has added nearly 2% to Rs 732.

Reliance Communications, Bajaj Auto and Cipla have slipped around 3% each to Rs 557, Rs 2,009 and Rs 181, respectively.

Wipro has dropped 2.5% to Rs 411. Larsen & Toubro and Infosys are down 1% each to Rs 1,529 and Rs 3,230, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,638 stocks traded so far, 1,902 have declined, 687 have advanced and 49 are unchanged.
