Sensex up 148pts; Tata Motors zooms 4%

The Sensex is now up 148 points at 11,926.

Tata Motors has surged nearly 4% to Rs 896. Maruti has rallied 3% to Rs 902, and Bajaj Auto has gained 1.5% at Rs 2,832.

Larsen & Toubro has moved up 2.4% to Rs 2,487. Infosys, HLL and ICICI Bank have added over 2% each to Rs 1,851, Rs 244 and Rs 622, respectively.

Reliance Energy has gained nearly 2% at Rs 453. TCS, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Auto are up around 1.5% each.

Out of 2,611 stocks traded so far, 1,602 have advanced, 935 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
