Sensex up 15 pts; ONGC, SBI firm

The Sensex has gained 15 points to 6,908 on gains in heavyweights, banking, auto and other select old economy counters. The Nifty is steady at 2,164 - up three points.

ONGC has gained 2.18% (Rs 20) to Rs 932. While Reliance has logged 1.24% gains (Rs 7) to Rs 595, ITC is up a per cent (Rs 7) at Rs 1,379. HLL is marginally up at Rs 144.

SBI has flared up 2.78% (Rs 20) to Rs 741. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are marginally up at Rs 618 and Rs 392, respectively.

HPCL is up 1.19% (Rs 4) at Rs 339.

Bajaj (up Rs 4 to Rs 1,100) and Maruti (up Rs 3 to Rs 462) are trading with steady gains. Hero Honda and Tata Motors are up with modest gains at Rs 555 and Rs 468, respectively.

HDFC has added 1.60% (Rs 13) to Rs 814.

Infosys (down Rs 18 to Rs 2,233) has come off its lows on buying at lower levels. While Wipro has dipped 1.37% (Rs 10) to Rs 704, Satyam is down a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 415.

Bharti (down Rs 6 to Rs 223) is still displaying weak trends. L&T has slipped a per cent (Rs 7) to Rs 1,088.
