Sensex up 157pts; Reliance, BHEL surge 4%

The Sensex touched a new high of 11,983, and is now up 157 points at 11,978.

Reliance and BHEL have surged over 4% to Rs 928 and Rs 2,377, respectively.

Hindalco and Tata Steel have rallied over 3.5% each to Rs 207 and Rs 610, respectively.

HDFC, ONGC and NTPC has soared over 2.5% each to Rs 1,318, Rs 1,341 and Rs 143, respectively.

Grasim and HDFC Bank have advanced over 2% each to Rs 2,290 and Rs 849, respectively.

However, Larsen & Toubro and Infosys continue to trade in the negative zones.

Out of 2,420 stocks traded so far, 1,369 have moved up, 965 have slipped and 86 are unchanged.
