Sensex up 157pts; TCS zooms 9%

The Sensex opened with a huge positive gap of 85 points at 11,625. The index touched a high of 11,728, and is now up 157 points at 11,697.

TCS zoomed to a high of Rs 2,099 on the back of strong earnings and a 1:1 bonus issue. The stock is now up 8.7% at Rs 2,070.

Infosys and Satyam have advanced 2% each to Rs 3,298 and Rs 844, respectively. Wipro has added 1.8% to Rs 550.

Grasim has surged 2.5% to Rs 2,300. Gujarat Ambuja has spurted over 2% to Rs 120.

HDFC Bank has advanced 1.8% to Rs 830.

ONGC, Cipla and Hindalco have moved up 1.5% each to Rs 1,263, Rs 670 and Rs 203, respectively.

Out of 1,198 stocks traded so far, 1,001 have moved up, 184 have slipped and 13 are unchanged.
