Sensex up 158pts; Bajaj Auto rallies 4%

The Sensex is now up 158 points at 13,940.

Bajaj Auto has soared 3.5% to Rs 2,655. Tatat Steel, HDFC and ITC have rallied 3% each to Rs 579, Rs 1,643 and Rs 165, respectively.

Wipro has gained 2.5% at Rs 563. HDFC Bank and Reliance Communications have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 1,014 and Rs 472, respectively.

Satyam, ONGC and SBI are up 1.5% each at Rs 460, Rs 923 and Rs 1,139, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,070 stocks traded so far, 1,463 have advanced, 546 have declined and 61 are unchanged.
