Sensex up 160pts; Satyam spurts 2.5%

The Sensex touched a high of 11,820, and is now up 160 points at the same level.

Satyam has surged 2.5% to Rs 804. Tata Motors, Maruti, Infosys, HDFC and BHEL have gained 1.7% each at Rs 869, Rs 938, Rs 1,800, Rs 1,353 and Rs 2,266, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, HLL, HDFC Bank and Reliance Energy are up 1.3% each at Rs 2,487, Rs 232, Rs 851 and Rs 466, respectively.

Hindalco is the sole loser among the index stocks.

IDBI touched a high of Rs 70.50, and is now up 8% at Rs 67. United Western Bank is locked at the 5% upper limit of Rs 22.50. IDBI will takeover United Western Bank and pay Rs 28 per share for the deal.
