Sensex up 162pts; Bajaj, Hindalco surge 3%

The Sensex is now up 162 points at 13,943.

HDFC has soared over 5% to Rs 1,679. Tata Steel and ITC have surged over 3.5% each to Rs 582 and Rs 166, respectively.

Bajaj Auto and Hindalco have rallied around 3% each to Rs 2,646 and Rs 148, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Wipro have moved up 2.5% each to Rs 1,021 and Rs 563, respectively. SBI has advanced over 2% to Rs 1,147.

Satyam and Reliance Communications have gained 1.7% each at Rs 460 and Rs 471, respectively.

Out of 2,491 stocks traded so far, 1,565 have advanced, 839 have declined and 87 are unchanged.
