Sensex up 166pts; REL, Hindalco soar 3%

The Sensex is now up 166 points at 15,077.

BHEL, Reliance Energy, Hindustan Unilever and Hindalco have surged 3% each to Rs 1,625, Rs 645, Rs 209 and Rs 160,  respectively.

ICICI Bank, Cipla, HDFC Bank and Reliance Communications have advanced around 2% each at Rs 973, Rs 216, Rs 1,172 and Rs 549, respectively.

HDFC and Tata Steel have gained 1.5% each at Rs 1,938 and Rs 665, respectively.

SBI, Bharti Airtel, Reliance and Larsen & Toubro are the other major gainers.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,336 stocks traded so far, 1,770 have advanced, 523 have declined and 43 are unchanged.
