Sensex up 167pts; ITC, HDFC soar 3%

The Sensex is now up 167 points at 14,231.

ITC and HDFC have soared 3% each to Rs 155 and Rs 1,800, respectively.

Hero Honda and HDFC Bank have surged 2.8% each to Rs 700 and Rs 1,122, respectively.

Hindalco and Satyam advanced over 2% each to Rs 161 and Rs 506, respectively. Infosys was up nearly 2% at Rs 1,988.

Reliance and Larsen & Toubro moved up 1.7% each to Rs 1,689 and Rs 1,915 respectively.

Grasim has shed 1.5% to Rs 2,356, and Tata Motors has slipped 1% to Rs 647.

Out of 2,461 stocks traded so far, 1,516 have advanced, 850 have declined and 95 are unchanged.
