Sensex up 175pts, HDFC rallies 4%

The Sensex is now up 175 points at 10,984.

The index touched a high of 10,992, after opening with a positive gap of 46 points at 10,855.

HDFC has rallied 4.4% to Rs 1,223. Hero Honda, Larsen & Toubro and Hindalco have surged over 3% each to Rs 855, Rs 2,441 and Rs 191, respectively.

ONGC and ACC have added 2.7% each to Rs 1,208 and Rs 820, respectively.

Tata Steel, Satyam and Cipla are up over 2% each at Rs 551, Rs 694 and Rs 239, respectively.

Reliance is up 1.8% at Rs 975.

Out of 2,010 stocks traded so far, 1,535 have advanced, 430 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
