Sensex up 177pts; TCS gains 6%

The NSE Nifty is up 43 points at 5,000.

TCS has surged 6.2% to Rs 962, while Hindalco has gained 4% to Rs 187.

Maruti and Infosys have rallied over 3.4% each to Rs 797 and Rs 1,807, respectively.

HDFC and Satyam have moved up around 2.5% each at Rs 2,725 and Rs 508, respectively.

Reliance Infra, Tata Steel and Bharti Airtel have advanced 2% each to Rs 1,408, Rs 868 and Rs 836, respectively.

Wipro, BHEL, Jaiprakash Associates, Ranbaxy and DLF are the other major gainers.

On the other hand, ONGC is the biggest loser today, has plunged over 5% to Rs 946.

 

ACC and Mahindra & Mahindra have tumbled over 2% each to Rs 668 and Rs 653, respectively.

NTPC and Ambuja Cements have declined 1.6% each to Rs 189 and Rs 110, respectively.
