Sensex up 178pts; Hindalco soars 5%

The Sensex zoomed to a fresh all-time high of 15,304 in opening trades. The index is now up 178 points at 15,270.

Hindalco has soared 4.5% to Rs 172. BHEL, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have surged around 2% each to Rs 1,680, Rs 986 and Rs 1,224, respectively.

HDFC and Ambuja Cements have rallied 1.7% each to Rs 1,988 and Rs 128, respectively. ITC has moved up 1.5% to Rs 155.

Reliance Energy, Bajaj Auto and Satyam are the other major gainers.
