Sensex up 179pts; Bharti, Maruti lead

The Sensex is now up 179 points at 11,840.

Bharti Airtel and Maruti have surged 2.7% each to Rs 435 and Rs 947, respectively.

Satyam, Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Energy have gained around 2.5% each at Rs 804, Rs 2,515 and Rs 471, respectively.

Dr.Reddy's, HLL, Infosys and Tata Motors have advanced over 2% each to Rs 727, Rs 234, Rs 1,804 and Rs 870, respectively.

Hero Honda, NTPC, Bajaj Auto, ITC, HDFC, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Gujarat Ambuja, SBI and ONGC are the other significant gainers.

Out of 2,241 stocks traded so far, 1,659 have advanced, 518 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
