Sensex up 179pts; Grasim, Tata Motors weak

The Sensex is now up 179 points at 14,243.

ITC has soared 3% to Rs 155. HDFC has surged 2.7% to Rs 1,798, and HDFC Bank has advanced 2.5% to Rs 1,118.

Hindalco, Satyam and Infosys are up 2% each at Rs 161, Rs 506 and Rs 1,988, respectively.

Reliance has moved up 1.6% to Rs 1,687. Larsen & Toubro and Cipla are up over 1% each at Rs 1,908 and Rs 214, respectively.

Grasim has shed 1.7% to Rs 2,350. Tata Motors has slipped 1% to Rs 648.

Out of 2,408 stocks traded so far, 1,510 have advanced, 817 have declined and 81 are unchanged.
