Sensex up 17pts; cement stocks extend losses

The Sensex is now up 17 points at 12,955.

Satyam has soared 5.5% to Rs 435. Wipro has rallied 3.7% to Rs 582, and TCS has surged 3.4% to Rs 1,228. Infosys has moved up 2% to Rs 2,120.

HDFC Bank has rallied 5% to Rs 979. Reliance Communications and Tata Steel are up around 2% each at Rs 416 and Rs 452, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja has plunged 7% to Rs 108. Graism has tumbled over 6% to Rs 2,075, and ACC has dropped 4% to Rs 864.

Dr.Reddy's has slumped 3.5% to Rs 654. BHEL, Hindalco, Hero Honda and Cipla have declined around 2% each to Rs 2,135, Rs 137, Rs 662 and Rs 229, respectively.

HDFC and Bajaj Auto are down 1.5% each to Rs 1,479 and Rs 2,580, respectively.

Out of 2,380 stocks traded so far, 1,496 have declined, 821 have advanced and 63 are unchanged.
