Sensex up 17pts; Cipla spurts 2%

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of eight points at 10,118. The index touched a new high of 10,155, and then slipped to a low of 10,108. The index is now up 17 points at 10,128.

Cipla has spurted nearly 2% to Rs 572 following the liberal bonus issue announced by the company.

ICICI Bank, Grasim and BHEL are the other smart gainers in the early trades.

NPTC has slipped 1.5% to Rs 119. Hindalco, Hero Honda, HDFC Bank, HLL and DR.Reddy's have declined over 1% each.
