Sensex up 17pts; Todays Writing soars 10%

The Sensex slipped into red to touch a low of 10,096, but soon bounced back into the positive zone. The index is now up 17 points at 10,128.

Grasim has surged 2% to Rs 1,605.

Cipla has gained 1.6% at Rs 570, and Ranbaxy has moved up 1.3% to Rs 438.

Larsen & Toubro at Rs 2,339, ICICI Bank at Rs 610 and Tata Power at Rs 510 are up 1% each.

NTPC has dropped nearly 2% to Rs 119.

HLL and Hero Honda have shed 1.5% each to Rs 205 and Rs 910, respectively.

HDFC Bank at Rs 752, Dr.Reddy's at Rs 1,191, Hindalco at Rs 162 and ONGC at Rs 1,163 have declined over 1% each.

The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 2,004 stocks traded 1,280 have advanced, 654 have declined and 70 are unchanged.

Todays Writing has soared nearly 10% to Rs 82. MTNL, BEML, Zee, Canara Bank, Finolex Industries and Nestle are the other smart gainers.

iGate Global has plunged nearly 7% to Rs 254. Shipping Corporation, Union Bank of India, Torrent Pharma, Sterlite Industries, Ashok Leyland, Britannia and Indian Hume Pipes are in declining mode.
