Sensex up 182pts; Sterlite, Reliance up 5%

The Sensex is now up 182 points at 9,120.

Sterlite and Reliance have soared 5.3% each to Rs 230 and Rs 1,201, respectively.

DLF, Ranbaxy, Mahindra & Mahindra and ITC have rallied over 5% each to Rs 236, Rs 224, Rs 316 and Rs 169, respectively.

Maruti has moved up 4.7% to Rs 537. Grasim, ACC and Reliance Communications have advanced almost 4% each to Rs 1,014, Rs 421 and Rs 218, respectively.

HDFC Bank, Reliance Infrastructure, Jaiprakash Assocaites and BHEL have gained around 3.5% each at Rs 950, Rs 491, Rs 70 and Rs 1,308, respectively.

Tata Steel and Hindalco are up 2.7% each to Rs 169 and Rs 54, respectively.

 

Satyam has dropped 3% to Rs 235.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,369 stocks traded so far, 1,213 have declined, 1,085 and 71 are unchanged.
