Sensex up 183pts; Rel Energy drops 4%

The Sensex continues to pare gains and is now up 183 points at 15,816.

The NSE Nifty is up 37 points at 4,777.

HDFC and Jaiprakash (JP) Associates have soared over 4% each to Rs 2,461 and Rs 235, respectively.

Infosys has surged 3.7% to Rs 1,475. ICICI Bank has rallied 3.5% to Rs 783, and HDFC Bank has advanced 3% to Rs 1,347.

Bharti Airtel, Satyam and SBI have moved up around 2.5% each to Rs 825, Rs 407 and Rs 1,664, respectively.

Wipro, Mahindra & Mahindra and TCS are up around 2% each at Rs 418, Rs 663 and Rs 851, respectively.

Reliance Energy have plunged nearly 4% to Rs 1,238, and Tata Steel has dropped over 3% to Rs 646.

ITC has shed 2.7% at Rs 206. BHEL has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 1,857.

Out of 2,681 stocks traded so far, 1,922 have advanced, 702 have declined and 57 are unchanged.
