Sensex up 184pts; HDFC Bank surges 4%

The Sensex is now up 184 points at 12,389.

HDFC Bank has soared over 4% to Rs 930. Infosys and Gujarat Ambuja have surged over 3% each to Rs 1,861 and Rs 121, respectively.

Grasim, SBI and Wipro have rallied around 2.5% each to Rs 2,555, Rs 1,040 and Rs 521, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Communications have advanced over 2% each to Rs 1,261 and Rs 347, respectively.

Satyam, Tata Steel, Cipla, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and TCS are the other significant gainers.

Out of 2,558 stocks traded so far, 1,838 have advanced, 650 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
