Sensex up 184pts; Hindalco zooms 5%

The Sensex touched a high of 12,041, and is now up 184 points at 12,036.

Hindalco has soared nearly 5% to Rs 224. Tata Steel has surged nearly 3% to Rs 652.

Grasim has gained 3.4% at Rs 2,432. Gujarat Ambuja has advanced 2.3% to Rs 119.

SBI has moved up 2.4% to Rs 903. Cipla and Satyam are up around 2% each at Rs 259 and Rs 764, respectively.

Tata Motors has rallied 2.4% to Rs 952. Bajaj Auto and Maruti have moved up 2% each to Rs 3,001 and Rs 937, respectively.

Out of 1,900 stocks traded so far, 1,517 have moved up, 342 have declined and 41 are unchanged.
