Sensex up 185pts; Ranbaxy gains 4%

The Sensex is now up 185 points at 19,968.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 5% to Rs 1,880. Ranbaxy has soared 4% to Rs 432.

NTPC has surged over 3% to Rs 242. SBI, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications have rallied around 2% each to Rs 2,108, Rs 917, Rs 1,020 and Rs 781, respectively.

ICICI Bank, ONGC, ACC and Tata Motors have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 1,260, Rs 1,238, Rs 1,083 and Rs 778, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Auto and Reliance are the other major gainers.

TCS, Satyam, Wipro and Infosys have slipped over 1% each to Rs 1,034, 473, Rs 503 and Rs 1,825, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro is down nearly 1% at Rs 4,283.

Out of 2,665 stocks traded so far, 1,538 have advanced, 1,063 have declined and 64 are unchanged.
