Sensex up 193pts; breadth fairly -ve

The Sensex is now up 193 points at 14,182.

ITC has soared 4.3% to Rs 159. Tata Steel has surged over 3% to Rs 563.

Mahindra & Mahindra and BHEL have rallied 2.7% each to Rs 629 and Rs 1,631, respectively.

Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications and Hindalco have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 704, Rs 492 and Rs 139, respectively.

Maruti, ONGC, Reliance and Ambuja Cements have advanced 1.5% each to Rs 780, Rs 801, Rs 1,773 and Rs 129, respectively.

Infosys, Hindustan Unilever and Larsen & Toubro are up over 1% each to Rs 1,781, Rs 196 and Rs 2,334, respectivley.

Cipla has plunged 4.7% to Rs 169. Tata Motors and NTPC have slipped over 1% each to Rs 627 and Rs 158, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,468 stocks traded so far, 1,700 have advanced, 725 have declined and 43 are unchanged.
