Sensex up 194pts; HDFC soars 4%

The Sensex is now up 194 points at 14,197.

HDFC has soared 3.7% to Rs 1,815. SBI has surged 2.8% to Rs 1,325, and BHEL has added 2.5% to Rs 1,344.

ACC, Bharti Airtel, Infosys and Reliance Energy have rallied around 2% each to Rs 815, Rs 814, Rs 2,021 and Rs 530, respectively.

Hindalco, HDFC Bank and Dr.Reddy's have advanced around 1.8% each to Rs 163, Rs 1,102 and Rs 638, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, Tata Steel and Reliance Communications have gained around 1.5% each at Rs 1,901, Rs 605 and Rs 493, respectively.

Reliance, Ranbaxy, Satyam, ONGC, Wipro, Maruti and Grasim are up over 1% each.

Hero Honda has slipped over 2% to Rs 680.

The market breadth very firm - out of 2,319 stocks traded so far, 1,674 have advanced, 572 have declined and 73 are unchanged.
