Sensex up 196pts

The Sensex has pared some gains on account of intra-day profit-taking. The index, which, touched a high of 11,809, is now up 196 points at 11,736.

TCS continues to stand firm with a gain of over 6% at Rs 2,024. ONGC and Bajaj Auto have rallied nearly 5% each to Rs 1,302 and Rs 2,897, respectively.

Reliance and Larsen & Toubro have surged 4% each to Rs 885 and Rs 2,638, respectively.

Cipla has soared 3.5% to Rs 683. HDFC Bank has advanced 2.5% to Rs 836.

Satyam (Rs 847), Wipro (Rs 553) and ITC (Rs 197) are up over 2% each.

Gujarat Ambuja has plunged over 2% to Rs 115. Tata Steel and Tata Power are down 1% each at Rs 589 and Rs 586, respectively.

Out of 2,496 stocks traded so far, 1,516 have moved up, 919 have declined and 61 are unchanged.
