Sensex up 196pts; NTPC, Hindalco slip 3%

The Sensex is now up 196 points at 17,790.

The NSE Nifty is up 10 points at 5,213.

HDFC has zoomed over 6% to Rs 2,690. Hindustan Unilever have soared 5.5% to Rs 200.

ICICI Bank has rallied nearly 4% to Rs 1,195. ITC and Satyam have surged around 3% each to Rs 199 and Rs 405, respectively.

Reliance Communications, BHEL, Mahindra & Mahindra and Infosys have advanced 2% each to Rs 627, Rs 2,190, Rs 646 and Rs 1,452, respectively.

ACC has moved up 1.7% to Rs 763, and ONGC has added 1.3% to Rs 1,004.

Hindalco and NTPC have dropped 3.3% each to Rs 155 and Rs 216, respectively.

Reliance Energy and DLF have slipped over 3% each to Rs 1,928 and Rs 895, respectively.

Grasim, Ambuja Cements and Reliance are down around 1% each at Rs 2,992, Rs 118 and Rs 2,530, respectively.
