Sensex up 197pts; TCS, Wipro up 2%

The Sensex is now up 197 points at 15,505.

BHEL and Tata Steel have soared 3.4% each to Rs 1,771 and Rs 673, respectively. ICICI Bank has zoomed over 3% to Rs 911.

Maruti and Tata Motors have surged 2.7% each to Rs 860 and Rs 678, respectively. NTPC has gained 2.4% at Rs 175.

TCS has advanced 2% to Rs 1,177, and Wipro has added 1.7% to Rs 484.

Reliance and Hindalco have moved up around 1.5% each to Rs 1,905 and Rs 164, respectively.

HDFC Bank and ACC are up 1.3% each at  Rs 1,187 and Rs 1,038, respectively.

Satyam, Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications, Bajaj Auto, Mahindra & Mahindra and Larsen & Toubro are the other major gainers. 

Out of 2,370 stocks traded so far, 1,744 have advanced, 584 have declined and 42 are unchanged.
