Reliance Communications, Jaiprakash Associates and Infosys have rallied nearly 2.5% each to Rs 589, Rs 273 and Rs 1,792, respectively.
TCS, Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti have advanced nearly 2% each to Rs 928, Rs 654 and Rs 745, respectively.
NTPC, ITC, Satyam and Wipro have gained around 1.5% each at Rs 198, Rs 215, Rs 487 and Rs 486, respectively.
HDFC has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 2,828. Grasim has shed 1.7% at Rs 2,430.
HDFC Bank and ACC have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 1,525 and Rs 765, respectively.
Ranbaxy, ONGC, DLF and Hindalco are down over 1% each at Rs 479, Rs 1,040, Rs 717 and Rs 196, respectively.
The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,480 stocks traded so far, 1,523 have advanced, 878 have declined and 79 are unchanged.
