Sensex up 200pts; HDFC, L&T soar 7%

The Sensex is now up 200 points at 10,549. Earlier in the day, the index touched a high of 10,655, and then slipped to a low of 10,419.

Reliance Communications has zoomed nearly 9% to Rs 213.

Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra and HDFC have soared around 7% each to Rs 768, Rs 450 and Rs 1,691, respectively.

DLF has surged 5.5% to Rs 214. Reliance Infrastructure, Hindalco and Tata Steel have gained around 4.5% each at Rs 602, Rs 59 and Rs 235, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has rallied over 4% to Rs 665. Sterlite and ICICI Bank have added 3.5% each to Rs 386 and Rs 373, respectively.

 

ONGC has moved up 2.7% to Rs 894. HDFC Bank and Tata Motors are up 2.5% each at Rs 1,060 and Rs 208, respectively.

Hindusan Unilever has plunged 2.5% to Rs 225. Ranbaxy and ITC have shed 2% each at Rs 183 and Rs 181, respectively.

Grasim and ACC have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 1,572 and Rs 590, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,451 stocks traded so far, 1,744 have advanced, 636 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
