Sensex up 206pts; Tata Steel soars 7%

The Sensex is now up 206 points at 14,747.

SensexThe Sensex continues to exhibit volatile movement and the index is now at 14,749, up 124 points.

The BSE Realty Index has soared 6% to 4,044. Metal and IT indices are up 3-4% each at 11,285 and 3,009, respectively.

The Mid- and Small-cap have gained 2.6% and 3.1%, respectively.

Tata Steel has soared 7% to Rs 434. Jaiprakash Associates , NTPC and ACC have advanced 6-6.5% each at Rs 221, Rs 229 and Rs 831, respectively.

Reliance Communications and Mahindra & Mahindra have added 5% each at Rs 322 and Rs 708, respectively.

 

ITC, Grasim and Sterlite have gained 4% each at Rs 192, Rs 2,195 and Rs 648, respectively.

Wipro, HDFC, Infosys, DLF, Hindalco, Reliance Infrastructures and Maruti Suzuki are up 2-4% each.

ICICI Bank and BHEL have dropped 2% each to Rs 724 and Rs 2,128, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and Ranbaxy are down 1.5% each.

The market breadth is fairly positive, out of 2,821 shares traded, 2,233 have advanced and only 542 have declined so far on the BSE.
