Sensex up 211pts; NTPC, RIL drop 3%

The Sensex is now up 211 points at 17,805.

The NSE Nifty is up 33 points at 5,236.

Hindustan Unilever has zoomed 6% to Rs 201. HDFC and ICICI Bank have soared 5% each to Rs 2,665 and Rs 1,209, respectively.

BHEL has surged 4% to Rs 2,231. ITC, Satyam and OGNC have gained nearly 3% each at Rs 198, Rs 404 and Rs 1,018, respectively.

Reliance Communications and Mahindra & Mahindra have advanced 2% each to Rs 627 and Rs 645, respectively.

Infosys has moved up 1.5% to Rs 1,445. Maruti, ACC and Bajaj Auto are up over 1% each at Rs 835, Rs 760 and Rs 2,242, respectively.

NTPC has plunged 3.6% at Rs 216. Reliance (RIL) has dropped nearly 3% to Rs 2,482.

Grasim, Reliance Energy and Ambuja Cements have shed 1.7% each at Rs 2,970, Rs 1,955 and Rs 117, respectively.

Hindalco and Larsen & Toubro are down over 1% each at Rs 159 and Rs 3,702, respectively.
