Sensex up 216pts; TCS soars 6%

The Sensex is now up 216 points at 9,884.

TCS has soared 5.6% to Rs 556, and Larsen & Tourbo has surged over 5% to Rs 656.

BHEL, Hindalco and ITC have rallied around 4% each to Rs 1,547, Rs 52 and Rs 184, respectively.

Tata Motors has gained over 3% at Rs 165. SBI, Tata Power and HDFC have advanced 2.8% each to Rs 1,080, Rs 761 and Rs 1,642, respectively.

Sun Pharma, Tata Steel and Maruti have added 2.7% each to Rs 1,090, Rs 200 and Rs 753, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, ONGC, Infosys, Mahindra & Mahindra and NTPC are up 2% each at Rs 240, Rs 780, Rs 1,367, Rs 387 and Rs 181, respectively.

 

DLF has slipped over 2% to Rs 173, and Ranbaxy has declined 1.5% to Rs 160.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,495 stocks traded so far, 1,368 have advanced, 1,022 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
