Sensex up 217pts; Infosys surges 4%

The Sensex opened 135 points higher at 16,289. The index is now up 217 points at 16,371.

The NSE Nifty is up 63 points at 4,943.

Infosys has surged 4% to Rs 1,572. Wipro has soared 3.5% to Rs 439. TCS has gained 2.5% at Rs 999, and Satyam has added 2% to Rs 461.

Jaiprakash Associates has rallied 2.5% to Rs 224. Larsen & Toubro, DLF and Reliance Energy are the other major gainers.
