Sensex up 218pts; DLF, JP Associates firm

The Sensex is now up 218 points at 15,575.

The NSE Nifty is up 64 points at 4,687.

DLF has zoomed over 6% to Rs 645, and Jaiprakash (JP) Associates has soared over 5% to Rs 231.

Satyam has surged over 4% to Rs 379, and NTPC has gained 3.7% at Rs 194.

ITC and ICICI Bank have rallied around 3% each to Rs 191 and Rs 863, respectively.

Tata Motors, Larsen & Toubro and Hindalco have gained 2% each at Rs 633, Rs 2,862 and Rs 177, respectively.

ACC has moved up nearly 2% to Rs 794. Cipla, Reliance and TCS have added 1.7% each to Rs 205, Rs 2,281 and Rs 792, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has plunged 3.4% to Rs 752. Maruti has slipped over 2% to Rs 821, and Mahindra & Mahindra has shed 1.6% at Rs 650.

BHEL is down 1.4% at Rs 1,857.

Out of 2,691 stocks traded so far, 1,647 have declined, 988 have advanced and 56 are unchanged.
