Sensex up 22 pts, HLL firm

After touching a mid-morning high of 6,763, the index has steadily pared gains on weakness in tech stocks and a steady fall from their early highs in select heavyweights.

While the Sensex is now up 22 pts at 6,737, the Nifty is up a point at 2,089 .

HLL has flared up 4.30% (Rs 6) to Rs 149. ONGC and Reliance are up a per cent each at Rs 929 (up Rs 7) and Rs 539 (up Rs 4), respectively.

ICICI Bank has gained 1.52% (Rs 6) to Rs 398. While SBI has declined a per cent (Rs 7) to Rs 664, HDFC Bank is marginally down at Rs 539.

Bajaj (up Rs 26 or 2.11% to Rs 1,253), Hero Honda (up Rs 7 or 1.27% to Rs 560) and Tata Motors 9up Rs 6 or 1.43% to Rs 439) are displaying a range-bound trend. Maruti, however, has lost 1.19% (Rs 6) to Rs 462.

Ranbaxy has gained 1.28% (Rs 14) to Rs 1,115. Dr. Reddy's has added 1.35% (Rs 10) to Rs 735, and Cipla is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 292.

Reliance Energy is up 1.19% (Rs 6) at Rs 522. While Tata Power has dropped 1.95% (Rs 8) to Rs 379, Tisco is down 1.30% (Rs 5) at Rs 358.

Infosys (down Rs 11 to Rs 2,240) is trading at subdued levels. Wipro and Satyam, too, are exhibiting weak trends at Rs 714 and Rs 452, respectively.
