Sensex up 221pts at 11,868

Heavy buying in the market saw the Sensex zoom to a high of 11,889. The index is now up 221 points at 11,868.

Cipla stands firm with a gain of 5.4% at Rs 261. ONGC has surged nearly 4% to Rs 1,374. HDFC has advanced over 3% to Rs 1,295.

Tata Steel has rallied almost 3% to Rs 641, and Hindalco has added 2.7% to Rs 211.

Grasim has flared up 3% to Rs 2,365. Wipro, Bajaj Auto, ACC and Hero Honda are also up nearly 3% each at Rs 541, Rs 2,915, Rs 948 and Rs 847, respectively.

Ranbaxy and Larsen & Toubro are the only losers among the Sensex stocks.

Out of 2,341 stocks traded so far, 1,590 have advanced, 689 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
