Sensex up 222pts; Tata Steel soars 7%

The Sensex is now up 222 points at 12,096. The index had opened with a positive gap of 89 points at 11,963, and zoomed to a high of 12,145.

Tata Steel has zoomed nearly 7% to Rs 612. Hero Honda and Bajaj Auto have zoomed 4% each to Rs 885 and Rs 3,246, respectively. Tata Motors has rallied over 2% to Rs 950.

ITC has surged 4% to Rs 202. Reliance has gained 2.6% at Rs 1,070, and ONGC has added 2.3% to Rs 1,393.

Infosys has advanced 2.6% to Rs 3,227. Reliance Energy and Larsen & Toubro have moved up 2.2% each to Rs 594 and Rs 2,685, respectively.

HDFC Bank has dropped 1.5% to Rs 835. Grasim has slipped over 1% to Rs 2,155.

Out of 2,491 stocks traded so far, 1,993 have advanced, 451 have declined and 47 are unchanged.
