The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 242 points at 14,663. The index is now up 223 points at 14,624.
ICICI Bank and DLF have surged 3.3% each to Rs 666 and Rs 500, respectively.
HDFC Bank and Reliance Infrastructure have rallied nearly 3% each to Rs 1,230 and Rs 1,007, respectively.
HDFC and Jaiprakash Associates have gained 2.3% each at Rs 2,334 and Rs 168, respectively.
SBI, Larsen & Toubro and Satyam have advanced 2% each to Rs 1,374, Rs 2,657 and Rs 394, respectively.
Reliance Communications, Grasim and ACC are also up nearly 2% each at Rs 413, Rs 1,965 and Rs 569, respectively.
Ranbaxy has slipped 1.3% to Rs 516.
