Sensex up 224pts; Bajaj Auto zooms 5%

The Sensex rallied to a high of 11,809 following a status quo stance by the Reserve Bank of India on the interest rates front. The index is now up 224 points at 11,764.

TCS is firm with a gain of 6.5% at Rs 2,027. Bajaj Auto has zoomed over 5% to Rs 2,910.

Cipla and ONGC have surged 4.5% each to Rs 689 and Rs 1,298, respectively. Larsen & Toubro has rallied 4% to Rs 2,642.

Dr.Reddy's and Reliance are up nearly 3% each at Rs 1,510 and Rs 875, respectively.

ITC has moved up 2.6% to Rs 198. Satyam and HDFC Bank have advanced 2.5% each to Rs 849 and Rs 835, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja has slipped 1.3% to Rs 116.

Out of 2,471 stocks traded so far, 1,564 have advanced, 843 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
