Sensex up 226pts; breadth firm

The Sensex is now up 226 points at 19,589.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 9.4% to Rs 1,901. Wipro has soared 6% to Rs 488.

Reliance Communications and TCS have surged nearly 4.5% each to Rs 705 and Rs 1,058, respectively.

Hindalco and Mahindra & Mahindra have rallied over 3% each to Rs 191 and Rs 755, respectively.

Bajaj Auto and BHEL have moved up 2.7% each to Rs 2,782 and Rs 2,750, respectively.

Maruti and Reliance have gained 2.3% each at Rs 1,035 and Rs 2,917, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Bharti Airtel have shed 1.7% each at Rs 1,690 and Rs 923, respectively.

HDFC and ICICI Bank have slipped around 1.5% each at Rs 2,740 and Rs 1,168, respectively.

Out of 2,822 stocks traded so far, 2,108 have advanced, 657 have declined and 57 are unchanged.
