Sensex up 226pts; HDFC Bank rallies 5%

The Sensex is now up 226 points at 11,887.

HDFC Bank has surged 4.7% to Rs 880. Maruti and ICICI Bank have spurted over 4% each to Rs 961 and Rs 629, respectively.

NTPC has rallied 3.7% to Rs 129. Bharti Airtel, Dr.Reddy's and SBI have gained 3.5% each at Rs 438, Rs 736 and Rs 964, respectively.

HLL has moved up nearly 3% to Rs 236. Satyam and Bajaj Auto are up 2.5% each at Rs 803 and Rs 2,776, respectively.

Out of 2,535 stocks traded so far, 1,739 have advanced, 723 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
