Sensex up 226pts; Satyam gains 3%

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 212 points at 16,456, and touched a high of 16,535. The index is now up 226 points at 16,470.

The NSE Nifty is up 62 points at 4,949.

Satyam has surged nearly 3% to Rs 467. Infosys has gained 2.5% at Rs 1,641.

HDFC Bank has rallied 2% to Rs 1,332. Reliance Energy, ICICI Bank, Wipro and DLF have moved up around 1.7% each to Rs 1,370, Rs 830, Rs 455 and Rs 633, respectively.

HDFC, Hindalco and TCS have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 2,420, Rs 179 and Rs 988, respectively.
