Sensex up 228pts; ITC, Tata Steel surge

The Sensex is now up 228 points at 13,612.

Wipro has rallied 3.3% to Rs 587. TCS and Satyam have surged over 2.5% each to Rs 1,297 and Rs 494, respectively. Infosys has gained 1.4% at Rs 2,116.

ITC and Tata Steel have soared nearly 3% each to Rs 158 and Rs 526, respectively.

Reliance Communications, ONGC, Gujarat Ambuja, Grasim and SBI have advanced over 2% each to Rs 431, Rs 892, Rs 111, Rs 2,337 and Rs 1,020, respectively.

ICICI Bank, BHEL, ACC, Tata Motors and Hindalco are the other major gainers.

Cipla has slipped 1% to Rs 230.
